  • Final Evaluation Marcos East, of Jonesboro (GA) Jonesboro, is a 5'7 130lb 2021 prospect from our Spring 2019 Atlanta camp. College coaches on camp staff identified Marcos as having college potential. Marcos has a decent wingspan, which can be even more effective with active hands/feet. Additionally, the prospect appears to have very good size for position when used properly remains advantageous on both sides of the ball. The talented passer, distributes the ball well seeing the floor and anticipating when and where teammates will be open creating easy buckets. In terms of ball handling, it was one of the strongest aspects of the player's game showing "ball on a string" ability. The player has a deadly handle and does a great job of using it to their advantage to put pressure on the defense. Basketball IQ was one of the player's greatest strengths routinely making the right play at the right time. There was a great emphasis on making the right play, which will be a big advantage in recruiting and separating from others. A big part of IQ is shot selection. Marcos does a great job of understanding when there is enough time and space to shoot the ball and will continue to develop this knowledge by watching how this is done at various college levels. Making the extra pass and taking only open in-rhythm shots proved to be a reliable asset for the prospect. The prospect showed they were an extremely reliable shooter throughout camp. Shooting will continue to develop with form shooting and made game speed repetitions. We recommend making at least 500 game speed shots a day off the screen(curl/fades), off the bounce, spot shooting, etc. The talent was a capable finisher around the rim. With continued work finishing through traffic with either hand, through contact, and developing more finishing moves, the player will continue to be an improving threat around the basket. The talented player is an exceptional athlete proving to be an advantage on both ends of the floor having athleticism that is in the upper quartile of competitors. The prospect is very strong for their age. The college game is an entirely different beast so continued strength development is crucial to prepare going against 23-24 year-olds. Combined with the player's developing frame, the player will be physically competitive with continued work in the weight room. The talent showed a very good motor (highly coveted skill by college coaches) that remained mostly active on possessions and from what we saw, the player showed physical and mental toughness throughout camp. The player showed a great understanding and effort on the defensive side of the ball and should continue to focus on individual and team defensive concepts emphasized at camp. Marcos has potential with continued hard work and development both in the classroom and on the hardwood. Can play the 1. AAU Team: .
