Final Evaluation
Khalil Boone, of Opelika (AL) Opelika HS, is a 6'1 165lb 2019 prospect from our Spring 2019 Atlanta camp. College coaches on camp staff identified Khalil as having division 1 potential. Khalil has elite level wingspan that makes the player a corner stone on the defensive end and can be even more effective with active hands/feet. Additionally, the prospect appears to have very good size for position when used properly remains advantageous on both sides of the ball. The extremely talented passer does a fantastic job distributing and seeing the floor with tremendous vision. The player is always anticipating where and when teammates will be open making it a joy for others to play with such a gifted passer. In terms of ball handling, the prospect showed a great handle and is on the way to being a primary ball handler. In terms of basketball IQ the player was one of the smartest players we saw at camp and all Fall. The right play was almost always made, and that will be a big advantage in recruiting as this prospect showed they could be trusted on the court at all times being an extension of the coach. A big part of IQ is shot selection. Khalil does an excellent job of shooting the basketball with rhythm and possesses high-level knowledge between good/bad shots. This advantage will continue to develop by watching how this is done at various college levels. Making the extra pass and taking only open in-rhythm shots proved to be a very reliable asset for the prospect. The prospect was able to consistently knock down shots during camp showing to be a reliable asset. Shooting will continue to develop with form shooting and made game speed repetitions. We recommend making at least 500 game speed shots a day off the screen(curl/fades), off the bounce, spot shooting, etc. The talent did a tremendous job of finishing around the rim through various moves. The prospect showed great ability with both hands and has the potential to finish on any defense. The talented player is an explosive athlete proving to be a distinct advantage on both ends of the floor that has the athleticism that is in the top percentile of high school kids. We determined the prospect's strength to be one of their best qualities. The college game is an entirely different beast so continued strength development is crucial to prepare going against 23-24 year-olds. Combined with the player's solid frame that should to continue to build year around, the player will be physically ready to play at the next level. The talent had an impressive motor (highly coveted skill by college coaches) that we believe will translate well at the next level. College coaches will be impressed watching the talented prospects motor and from what we saw, the player had a physical and mental toughness that coaches at the next level will love. The player showed they were one of the best defenders both individually and team wise and should focus on their ability to be a stopper this upcoming season as college coaches will love this trait and will help them earn more minutes. Khalil has division 1 potential with continued hard work and development both in the classroom and on the hardwood. Can play the 1. AAU Team: Auburn Raptors/Alabama Hawks/TribCity Blazers.
