1A Boys:

The # 5 seed Greenfield did an admirable job almost knocking off the heavy favorite, # 2 seed United Faith.  United Faith was led by the usual suspect, Florida State bound Ian Miller.  Miller was his typical spectacular self, hitting big shot after big shot.  He has become noticeable stronger over the course of the year and should be an instant contributor at Florida State.  7' Sophomore center Peter Jurkin proved for the 2nd year in a row he is best come playoff time.  Jurkin controlled the paint, blocking shots, rebounding, and getting some easy buckets down low.  He was assisted down low by fellow highly talented sophomore, 6'9" Hanner Perea.  It was almost as if they didn't even miss 6'8" Missouri bound Kadeem Green out with a foot/ankle injury.  Brian Richardson of Greenfield (South Carolina) had an excellent game scoring big buckets for Greenfield to keep it close.  Senior Darian Cahill proved to be a deadly force from behind the arc as well.

Notes:  2010 6'8" Nemanja Mikic of United Faith is a sleeper, he had a great first half knocking down shots from mid range and several feetbehind the arc.   Sophomore Sam Hughes (6'4" SF) is another player with excellent upside.

Final Score:  84-74 - United Faith wins 2nd consecutive 1A State Championship.

2A Boys:

The # 9 seed Victory Christian continued their "Cinderella" run with a victory over the # 2 seed First Assembly.  Victory Christian was led by senior SG Valentino Thomas, who is a fantastic athlete, can get to the rim, and knock down the 3 ball.  He has a chance to make a D1 roster.  Josh Clyburn the 6'8" combo forward did not have his best game, but showed he is a definite D1 talent; with his athleticism and length.  First Assembly was kept in the game by the play of 7'1" David Wishon who was too big and strong to be stopped by Victory.  He scored well down low and drew a lot of fouls, while knocking down his FT's at a nice clip.

Notes: 5'7" senior Kyle Grisby is ultra quick with a superior handle. Size may hold him back, but he can play when he stays in control.

Final Score:  72-58

3A Boys:

The top seed Christ School proved too powerful and deep for Charlotte Christian in this one.  7' Junior Marshall Plumlee did not have his best offensive game, but defensively was a difference maker, blocking and intimidating shots.  It was a balanced offensive efforts from the likes of Demarcus Harrison, Eric Smith, Tony Kimbro, Sebastian Koch, Lucas Troutman, and Brandon Lopez which propelled Chris School.  Charlotte Christian game out on fire, getting off to the early lead, but the depth and uptempo style Christ School has eventually wore Christian down.
Charlotte Christian still had some nice performances, most notably by South Carolina bound Junior Anthony Gill, who is really emerging as an up and coming power forward!

Notes: 6'8" Senior Sebastian Koch can really fill it up from deep and should get more attention than he has!  Akil Mitchell (Virginia) looks like he has grown more... he is a 6'7"+ and showed a great post up game, to go along with his outside shooting and deceptive athleticism.

Final Score: 78-59 -  Christ School won its 4th consecutive 3A State Championship.
